Some pharmaceuticals may provide symptomatic relief

Because the symptoms of ALS/MND are so varied and complicated, each person must be treated individually for his or her specific needs. The focus for now is to diminish symptoms and improve the quality of life each day. Because individual needs change frequently, ALS/MND is a patient driven disease. Requests for FDA approved medications and devices is frequently initiated by the person with ALS/MND. Several medications and support devices are either FDA approved or can be cross-prescribed through a physician or neurologist and are described in greater detail in this section.
