Research + Trials

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are prospective biomedical research studies on human subjects, designed to answer specific questions about interventions such as vaccines, drugs or devices. They may focus on new ways of using known treatments as well. Before a clinical trial can proceed, a health authority, such as the FDA must provide approval. Investigators initially enroll patients into small pilot studies and then conduct progressively larger scale comparative studies based upon positive safety and efficacy data results.
