John’s ALS Story

Like so many who have been diagnosed with ALS, I too was floored. "Why me?" After days, nights, and months of asking myself this question, I realized there is NO answer. Stuff happens that we have no control over. Hours of internet research, doctor visits and family discussions kept coming back with the same answer: it's terminal and there is no cure.

Along comes ALS Worldwide with the most honest and informative website I've found. I entered my profile information which led to a one-on-one Skype interview with Barbara Byer, Co-Executive Director of ALS Worldwide. I was given tons of information that I did not know was available to people with ALS, from social security, VA, and much more. I'm a very proud person who never asked for help, but this is a battle for me and my family that requires a strong army. Will we win the war? Probably not. Win this battle (in my mind)? YES!

We do not want sympathy from anyone, but the opportunity to have a say on how we live this journey is all we ask. ALS Worldwide shows you the opportunities that are available to you. Take advantage of it. What have you got to lose?
