Canine Partners for Life

One highlight we discovered through our experience at Johns Hopkins University ALS Clinic is the Canine Partners for Life program, located in Pennsylvania.  Canine Partners for Life (CPL) service dogs provide physical assistance to their partners 24/7 in all home and public environments.  CPL services all kinds of patients with disabilities including those with ALS, Parkinson's, Stroke, Muscular Dystrophy and other neurodegenerative disorders and conditions. CPL has placed service dogs in more than 40 states and ALS patients are at the top of the waiting list.  Several other organizations throughout the US also provide a similar service, but this one comes highly recommended.

Their website, Canine Partners for Life, contains information about their services, the cost and what is involved in having a trained dog in your home.  Plus the added benefit of having a loving and supportive relationship.  This is worth exploring.
